Music Students Lift Spirits through Song!

December is quite the busy month for music students in Harborfields. On Wednesday, December 11, the Tri-M Music Honor Society partnered with the local YDA to bring the spirit of the season to the surrounding community! A little rain couldn't dampen the spirits of the students, who spent the evening caroling through the neighborhood, stopping at homes along the way and performing for the residents of Paumanack Village in Greenlawn.
The Tri-M Music Honor Society has been participating in this event since 2020, when they wanted to something musical, but couldn't have indoor concerts due to the COVID-19 restrictions. A local resident, who was also an active PTA member at the time, provided Ms. Scilla a list of names of senior citizens who she thought would benefit from a special singing visit! The caroling was an instant hit and something community members and students look forward to every year. The students make a special visit to Filomena Piscitelli, head of the cafeteria staff at the high school, and Greenlawn resident!
Tri-M students also participated in the Centerport Fire Department's tree lighting on December 3rd, while members of the high school Jazz Band infused their soulful sounds to the Greenlawn Civics Association's "Meet at the Tree" event on December 7th!
Thank you to the incredible music students and staff who share their talents to lift spirits and create lasting holiday memories for the community!
