Harborfields High School hosted a moving and impactful event at the screening of ‘Names Not Numbers’ on Thursday, January 23.
The documentary chronicles the life of three local Holocaust survivors: Rachel Epstein, Manfred Korman, and Rosalie Simon. It was created by local teens in the Suffolk Y JCC "Names, Not Numbers" program. The program teaches students to combine research, journalism, and video production to capture and share the stories of Holocaust survivors so that they are never forgotten.
Some of the students who helped create this documentary attended the premiere. The students attend Harborfields High school and other local high schools.
After the film, the students and Holocaust survivor Rosalie Simon sat on a panel moderated by Mrs. Jane Pashman. The student shared how this experience has shaped their lives. They also answered audience questions about the film and the project.
