On Tuesday, December 3, nine Harborfields High School students were inducted as the newest volunteers to serve on the Huntington Youth Court at Huntington Youth Bureau. Students were sworn in and presented certificates by Town of Huntington Supervisor Edmund J. Smyth.

Supervisor Smyth, who is an attorney by trade, spoke to the importance of the work these students are doing for their peers and their community. He encouraged the students to continue their efforts and quoted George Washington saying, "the true administration of justice is the firmest pillar of good government."

The student volunteers have undergone six weeks of training to be able to be sworn in as volunteers. Their training has focused on learning the roles of judge, jury, advocate, and bailiff, and they even completed a "bar exam." The students are now able to step into their designated roles at monthly trials for youth respondents within the community.

Congratulations to Meghan Duff, Matthew Gao, Osmar Gao, Sarah Gao, Justin Lee, Eli Noah, Noor Hammad Rana, Connor Thai, and Donovan Thai. The Harborfields Central School District applauds your willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to justice in a meaningful way. Keep up the good work!
