On May 10, Harborfields High School’s marching band and kickline, under the direction of Allison Scilla and Jackie Best, respectively, and the Oldfield Middle School seventh and eighth grade bands, under the direction of Dan Bilawsky, traveled together to Fairfield Properties Ballpark to perform as the featured entertainment prior to a Long Island Ducks game. Approximately 150 students in total played. The middle schoolers delivered a Taylor Swift medley and “America,” then joined their high school counterparts for the school fight song “Harborfields Will Win” before the older students performed a pair of Bruno Mars hits, “Locked Out of Heaven” and “Runaway Baby.”
The Harborfields community came out en masse to support the bands, purchasing more than 800 tickets.
“That type of turnout speaks volumes about the Harborfields family’s spirit and their belief in the importance of music,” Bilawsky said. “I’m very proud of our students and thankful that we receive such a strong showing of support for the programs and experiences we provide for them.”
