At the August 19 meeting of the Board of Education, Donovan Reyes-Thai was sworn in as the Ex-Officio Student Board Member for the 2026-2027 school year. Gina Inglese, District Clerk, administered the oath of office.

Donovan is a member of the Harborfields High School Class of 2027 and has consistently challenged himself academically by pursuing one of the school's most rigorous programs, including numerous Advanced Placement and Honors courses. His dedication to excellence has earned him induction into the National Honor Society, and High Honor Roll recognition throughout his high school years. 

Perhaps most impressive is Donovan's commitment to leadership and service. He has served as Class President for four consecutive years, earning the trust and confidence of his classmates while organizing school events, leading class initiatives, and representing the voices of students. He has also served as a peer leader through our Tornadoes Listening and Caring program and as a mentor through Tying Tornadoes Together, helping incoming freshmen successfully transition into high school. In addition, Donovan is an active member of DECA and has been a dedicated three-sport varsity athlete, competing in football, lacrosse, and indoor track throughout his high school career. 

When asked by Dr. Manning about the opportunity to serve on the Board, Donovan spoke thoughtfully about the importance of serving as a bridge between the student body and the Board of Education. He understands that this position is not simply an opportunity to share opinions, but a responsibility to listen to his classmates, represent their perspectives, and help strengthen communication between students and district leadership.

Donovan’s willingness to serve speaks volumes about his character and commitment to Harborfields. The Board of Education and district administration looks forward to working with him this year!
