Bus Stop Locations and Information

We take bus stop safety very seriously. We consider all students in an area when choosing a stop  location. In addition, there are factors such as the bus driver being able to see the entire bus stop area. We consider other motorists approaching our stops, stopping distance, road conditions, no travel roads, speed limits, the bus being able to maneuver, the distance between stops, and roads with a  lack of shoulders or steep inclines. That is why there are many roads within our district that buses will not travel on.

Please understand as a guideline, we do not provide unwarranted house stops. Buses will not enter private roads or private property.

Please remember parents are responsible for ensuring their child’s safety to and from the bus stop. You are responsible to make appropriate arrangements. To maximize safety, students should be at  the stop at least 5-10 minutes before the pickup to ensure timely loading and to avoid running at or  around the bus stop. Students and families should make a point to move at least 15 feet away from the bus when finished with loading or unloading students. That is a danger zone. Students crossing  should always do so in front of the bus with the driver’s eyesight and direction.

Bus rides are typically 20-40 minutes, but those times can fluctuate depending on unforeseen  circumstances. Some routes have children that are first on last off, depending on how far they live  from the school. That is generally the most efficient practice.

REQUESTING A STOP CHANGE

Please be reminded that bus stop changes cannot be approved for the following reasons:

Not able to see the bus stop from home

Other family, parent, siblings, obligations at home

General neighborhood concerns

The bus already passes your home

Walking distance to the stop (if already within district guidelines for allowed distance)

Lack of sidewalks or road conditions like hills or curves

Requests will not be addressed during the first few weeks of school. Please fill out the Google form on our website and allow us several weeks from the start of the school year to complete the review process. You will be notified via email of the Transportation  Department’s decision.

We thank you for your cooperation and support in protecting our most precious cargo.
