All students will have the opportunity to develop college and career-readiness skills that bridge the gap between high school and future endeavors.

Ways to participate in the Work Based Learning Program:

• Career Day: Elementary and middle school classes are visited by guest speakers to discuss their careers and skills needed for career success.
• High School Heroes: High School students serve as role models by teaching and empowering elementary students within their school district. High School Heroes work in teams to mentor students with hands-on, interactive lessons centered on work readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.
• Career Awareness Class: High school students learn about career exploration, job interviewing, on the job practices, and financial responsibility. Students explore different careers and hear from guest speakers in various fields. Students also have the opportunity to earn college credit.
• Career & Technical (CTE) Certification:  Harborfields received NYS CTE program approval for the Harborfields Business & Entrepreneurship Academy.  Students enrolled in this program earn a special diploma endorsement and earn a professional industry certification.
• Job Shadow Day: High school students spend the day with a mentor acquiring valuable career exploration experience.
• Internship: Students earn high school credit and gain important career exploration experience under the guidance of a mentor.
• DECA: Business/Marketing club available to high school students with an interest in business. Students acquire business skills, attend competitions, and field trips.
• Career Readiness Network (CRN)): A school-business partnership that meets four times each year to facilitate activities that directly impact students. Students meeting certain requirements are eligible to apply for the CRN scholarship. Click here to learn more about the CRN or to become a member.
