Celebrating Our Staff!
Last week was National School Social Work Week, an opportunity for schools to acknowledge and recognize the impactful work social workers do to support students, families, and their communities. Please join me in thanking our incredible social workers: Susan Koenig, DSW, LCSW (HHS), Kirsten Leonard, LMSW (OMS), Kimberly SanFilippo, LMSW (TJL), and Anna Zaharia, LCSW-R (WDPS) for ensuring all Harborfields students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

March 7 was Maintenance Worker Appreciation Day. A day to celebrate the incredible maintenance teams that keep our schools running smoothly! Please join me in thanking our incredible maintenance staff for their dedication and commitment to our students and schools!

March is Music in Our Schools Month
The positive impact of music education lasts a lifetime, shaping students in ways that extend far beyond the classrooms. Every day, in music classrooms and rehearsal rooms across our district, dedicated music educators provide meaningful musical experiences for all students. What better way to celebrate this commitment than with the Suffolk County Music Educators Association’s All-County festivals in March? We are so proud of the 70 Harborfields students who will represent our district at the SCMEA All-County Music Festival concerts!
Northwell Community Newsletter

Here are some of my favorite moments from this past week:
Harborfields High School
The 10th grade AP World History classes had the profound opportunity to hear powerful and personal stories of Holocaust survivors, shared by their family members through 3GNY. A special thank you to HFCSD Board of Education Vice President, Dr. Eve Meltzer-Krief, for sharing her mother’s story, and to Mrs. Jane Pashman, for sharing her maternal grandmother’s story. Their heartfelt accounts provided students with a deeper understanding of the lasting impact these experiences had on families.

Oldfield Middle School
At Interview Day, OMS students had the chance to put their skills to the test in real-world job interview simulations! They faced tough questions but were able to highlight their strengths and gain invaluable experience for future job interviews. The interviewers were thoroughly impressed with their well-crafted resumes and confident handshakes! A special thanks to the building staff and Career Readiness Network members who volunteered as interviewers!

Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School This week, fourth-grade students at TJL put their science skills to the test as they explored aquifers - natural underground reservoirs that store and transmit groundwater. The students built mini aquifers, simulated rain on permeable and impermeable surfaces, and learned about protecting our ground and surface waters. I can’t wait to see what they find next week when they check to see how contamination plays a part in the process.
 Washington Drive Primary School
Thanks to the PTA, students and staff at Washington Drive were treated to a visit from renowned author and illustrator, Rosemary Wells. Everyone loved learning about the illustration techniques she uses and how she has been inspired to write over 100 books. Rosemary serves as a true inspiration for future authors and illustrators, some of whom may be students at Washington Drive right now!
