This is Ms. Haddock who is better known as Nurse Patty at WDPS. Nurse Patty's retirement began this weekend. We wish her all the best in retirement and thank her for leaving a long legacy of care at HF! Thank you!
Another Week Full of Harborfields Pride!
Our students continue to find new and creative ways to make us so proud of them, including our seniors at Harborfields High School who continue to learn about new post high school opportunities as they will soon transition to the next great phase of their lives. Whether they are heading off to college, the military, or the workforce, we know they will go on to change the world for the better. I am looking forward to celebrating our seniors and all of our students at all of the spring ceremonies and school events to come. I hope to see all of you there as well.
Class of 2025 Valedictorian and Salutatorian Announced!
Last week, the Harborfields High School Class of 2025 Valedictorian and Salutatorian were announced. These remarkable students exemplify academic excellence, strong leadership, and an unwavering commitment to their school and community.
Please join me in congratulating Sara Tovar-Guacaneme, Valedictorian, and Delilah Shapiro, Salutatorian, on their well-deserved honors! We are so proud of you and can't wait to see what you will accomplish next!
What A Night! - ENL Family Celebration
I was honored to attend this year’s ENL Student Recognition and Family Celebration. It was a truly memorable evening celebrating our #oneHFamily. Students received certificates of achievement, showcased their talents through performances, and our graduating seniors imparted wisdom through inspiring speeches about their journeys. Special thanks to our dedicated ENL teachers from all four schools who made this event possible through their support and guidance.
Coming up… OMS Drama Production, High School Musical, Jr.
Are you looking for something to do next weekend? Come down to OMS to see High School Musical, Jr! I have had the pleasure of seeing our students rehearse for weeks and I know you’ll be blown away by their performance. Click on the picture below to see the show times and to purchase your tickets.
Shoutout to multi-talented OMS students Lia Davila and Emma Bemiss, whose designs were selected to be the front and back covers of the playbill!
Raising Awareness About Ramadan
I am proud to share the work of our Student Government and Tornado News Team at Oldfield Middle School who developed an educational video to raise awareness of Ramadan which many families in our community are celebrating this month. Please take a moment to watch the video linked below.
Here are some of my favorite moments from this past week:
Harborfields High School:
Last Wednesday, 50 high school students were inducted into La Società Onoraria Italica and La Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, marking a proud milestone in their language journeys. Congratulations to all the inductees! Throughout the week, the honor society members kept students engaged with daily language-themed events, all leading up to the World Language celebration. At the celebration, students showcased projects, played interactive games, and even got a taste of some traditional foods from around the world. What a week for World Languages!
Oldfield Middle School: Karleen Melleby placed in the top 10 of the Virtual Enterprise JV Dream Job Essay Contest! Karleen wrote about her dream of becoming an oncologist, and was given the opportunity to have a virtual meeting with oncologist, Dr. Eric Bernicker! It was great seeing Karleen discuss her passion while gaining invaluable advice from an industry expert. Way to go, Karleen!
Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School: The TJL PTA planned a jam-packed afternoon filled with tons of interactive fun for third-grade students at the STEAM Challenge! The event engaged students with hands-on experiments and creative challenges in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to explore their creativity and expand their problem-solving skills - even the Lahey Lion got in on the fun!
Washington Drive Primary School: With the weather warming up a bit this week, students were able to get outside more! Mrs. Harley’s class had a blast creating Scribble Stones in the outdoor classroom!
